Show Me - app for iOS (iPad & iPhone)
"For apple devices only! Great for importing pictures and labeling the pics. Easy to create but unable to view final presentation even after creating an account!!!" - Mrs. Koblick (2nd Grade teacher) TEACHER RATINGS (out of 5 stars) Student Engagement - * * * Pedagogy * * * * Supports Differentiation * * * * Overall Learning Rating * * * A flexible interactive whiteboard app that allows students to use text, pictures, audio, and drawing to record original presentations, SHOW ME stands out as a leader in the education app marketplace. Many teachers felt that it wasn't quite up to par with EDUCREATIONS as far as ease of use for Grades K & 1, but teachers felt that 2nd and 3rd graders would be able to handle it. -Chris Rogers, LSTC The biggest benefit of this app is that you can take a pic and write over the pic. Students can take a pic of their work, manipulative creations, etc and then label or write for understanding. I think this is more of a lower grade activity but could be adapted for upper grades in certain learning situations. This product is great for taking pictures with a response. Good independent activity for students who can show you their work through this app. Also great for number talks. Slides can be put together to make a presentation. We aren't happy about not being able to view the presentation. :( Book Creator - app for iPad & iPad mini
"This iPad app allows students to use their photos and add text and/or record sound captions to create a storybook that will be available on the iPad's iBook bookshelf." - Mrs. Connor (4th Grade teacher) TEACHER RATINGS (out of 5 stars) Student Engagement - * * * * Pedagogy * * * * * Supports Differentiation * * * * * Overall Learning Rating * * * * Book Creator has a nice, kid-friendly design and a simple format to help students create their own books through text and pictures. Students I have used it with loved the program and I felt that they captured grade-level content in a creative and original way. Try this one out with your class! - Chris Rogers, LSTC It would be fabulous if we could share the completed books in a more effective way. The app would be highly engaging, and we love the record sound and other user-friendly features. The finished books only save on the iBook shelf linked to the device it was created on. Individuals or small groups create a book to share their knowledge on a topic. They can record themselves reading the text of their own book. The iPad can be projected, if the proper cord is available, for books to be shared with the class. IPad's sharing the same Apple account would be able to see each other's books. SHARING IS LIMITED! |
Educreations - app for iOS (iPad & iPad mini)
"Students can use the app to draw, write, take photographs and record their voices." - Mrs. Poffenberger (Kindergarten teacher) "This app will turn your iPad into a recordable whiteboard. This will allow you to create lessons and add commentary to photos." - Mrs. Stewart (5th Grade teacher) TEACHER RATINGS (out of 5 stars) Student Engagement - * * * * * Pedagogy * * * * Supports Differentiation * * * * * Overall Learning Rating * * * * Easy setup and login, control of account details, and viewing/sharing finished products as videos from a computer makes this app a great fit for the elementary classroom. Check out the awesome teacher testimonials below! Great for word practice in lower grades. Would be great way for students to take a photos and record information about the photo. Good introduction to individually using technology to create small projects. (taking photos, recording voice, saving) Probably not going to be very engaging for older students. I use Educreations to practice writing words. Practice taking photos using a device. Practice recording voice. Take a photo of something you have learned about (i.e., shape) and then tell everything you know about the subject of the photo. We feel that this website/app is FABULOUS!!! It is great for enrichment as well as remediation. This website/app can be used in two ways. 1. The app will allow students/teachers to create lessons to be saved and viewed individually, in small group, or other. 2. The website will allow the students, teachers, and parents to view videos created by others on many topics. (No login or account setup required) I could use this app to allow my students to create a mini lesson to review their learning or to demonstrate their knowledge on a topic. I could also record the lesson while I teach the topic and then link it to my website for future viewing by students and parents. I could also allow students to view a video on a particular topic ahead of time and take notes. They can take notes and write questions for the lesson the following day.
