In this section, you will find many of our favorite apps & web tools at Harbins Elementary. We have included links to tutorial videos, blogs, websites, and student samples when they are available. We hope that you find these helpful when seeking ideas on how to effectively integrate technology into your classroom.
Skitch
Skitch (iOS or Android) is an easy-to-use photo annotation app/web tool available on all major platforms. Students can take photos within the app, import photos, or use a blank background. They can crop and re-size their photo before beginning. They then add text, arrows, call-outs, stickers, and many other features before saving their photo. Photos can be saved and automatically uploaded to an Evernote account, or saved to the camera roll and shared through email, Google Drive, or a Dropbox on the GCPS eClass C&I Tool. Smore is a fun and simple web tool that helps students convey information through images, text, audio, video, and more. You can choose from a pre-loaded template or create your own. Great for presentations, printables for hallway display, and to embed onto your website. Student work is automatically saved in the teacher account and can also be shared by link or embed code. Suitable for use from Kindergarten through adult learner. Also a great tool for teachers if you're looking to add some pizzazz to your class newsletter. It is easy to use even for students in Pre-K, but complex enough to engage 5th graders. Finished videos are saved to teacher account and can easily be linked and/or embedded to display great student work. A must-have for any iPad user - hopefully it will be coming to Android soon! PhotoPeach is an kid-friendly slideshow maker available on the web. It has the ability to upload photos, write captions, and add a music track for the finished product. Similar to Animoto, but much easier for younger students to navigate. The finished video product can be shared by link.
